DESCRIPTION:
The product is a white tablet or light blue or light green tablet with a coloring agent, or a film-coated tablet.
PHARMACOLOGICAL EFFECTS:
The product is a H2 receptor blocker. It can significantly inhibit nocturnal basal gastric acid secretion, as well as inhibit gastric acid secretion induced by food, histamine, pentagastrin, caffeine and insulin.
Drug interactions (1) The absorption of the product may be reduced if it is combined with antacids such as aluminum hydroxide and magnesium oxide, so co-administration is generally not recommended. (2) A combination of the product, diazepa (Valium), theophylline, propranolol (Inderal), phenytoin sodium, aspirin, etc. can increase the blood concentrations of all these drugs to enhance their effects but cause adverse reactions, even toxic reactions, so the product should not be combined with these drugs. (3) The product may cause respiratory depression or respiratory arrest when combined with aminoglycoside antibiotics such as gentamicin.
INDICATIONS:
It is used for symptomatic treatment to alleviate vomiting caused by chronic gastritis in dogs.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Oral dose: 1/2 tablet for dogs weighing 6-10 kg and 1 table for dogs weighing 11-20 kg, thrice daily for 28 days.
ADVERSE REACTIONS:
It may cause temporary slight swelling of mammary glands swelling in female dogs or mammary hyperplasia in male dogs. Male dogs may experience prostate weight loss, which is reversible and has no effect on reproductive function.PRECAUTIONS:
The product is intended for symptomatic treatment only, and it is recommended to perform an appropriate investigation for dogs with persistent vomiting undergo to diagnose the cause prior to treatment.
For dogs with renal insufficiency, the dose needs to be adjusted appropriately.
The product has not been studied in relation to target animals during pregnancy and lactation, and should be administered during pregnancy and lactation under the guidance of a licensed veterinarian.
The product may have clinical interactions with drugs including beta-receptor antagonists, calcium channel antagonists, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, phenytoin, theophylline, aminophylline, warfarin and lidocaine, and the dose of these drugs should be reduced when used in combination.
The product may cause a decrease in drug absorption due to increased gastric acid, and requires an acidic medium to promote absorption. The interval between its administration and the administration of aluminum or magnesium hydroxide, metoclopramide, digoxin and ketoconazole should be at least 2h.
After the product is opened, the remaining tablets should be kept in blister packs protected from light.
